The Oscars Red Carpet 2014

The phenomenal Oscars just finished a few hours ago. What an amazing evening - for us Londoners that were brave enough to stay up - an extremely early morning! Dare we say, we've not slept a wink! How could we, with all the dazzling fashion keeping us up!?

This years Academy Awards were so much fun! Ellen Degeneres did a great job in keeping the atmosphere fun and keeping us on Twitter involved. The highlight of the evening was when Ellen took a "selfie" with what started with Meryl Streep, ended up including Julia Roberts, Bradley Cooper, Brad Pitt, Lupita Nyong'o, and Jared Leto to name just a few. Her goal was to make that picture be the most retweeted tweet, and heck, it is! As of now, it is at 2.4M! We were one of the first few thousands to have retweeted. The numbers escalated exponentially within 10-15 minutes! It was amazing!

Not to mention the #OscarPizzaParty Ellen threw! It was really a memorable Oscars!
Before we get into the Red Carpet trends, here is a recap on some of the main awards won at The Academy Awards:

Best Supporting Actress: Lupita Nyong'o, for 12 Years A Slave
Best Supporting Actor: Jared Leto, for Dallas Buyers Club
Best Animated Feature Film: Frozen
Best Director: Alfonso Cuarón, for Gravity
Best Actress: Cate Blanchett, for Blue Jasmine
Best Actor: Matthew McConaughey, for Dallas Buyers Club
Best Picture: 12 Years A Slave

Now, onto the Red Carpet...
We've seen a boat load of posts that are classifying all the gorgeous dresses in terms of their colours, but none so far in terms of style. We saw some gorgeous ladies fashioning similar trends, which we'd like to draw attention to. Yes, the most common colour themes appeared to be nude, nude-metallic, pastels and black. Only a handful of the gorgeous ladies fashioned red and blue.
Gorgeous pastel gowns; perfect for the start of Spring!
Different range of colours and styles at The Oscars - metallics, pastels, nudes

The talk of the night for sure had to be Lupita. She was plastered all over Twitter for well over 2 hours. Fashion addicts all over were raving about her gorgeous sky blue Cinderella-esque gown. It looked stunning on her and she really pulled it off!
As the night progressed we were able to see the same deep, deep V neck Lupita sported, on a lot of other celebrity fashionistas. This seemed to be one of the trendiest cuts on the Red Carpet. Superbly flowey gowns, with Deep V necks going down to the waist. This style could be seen on Lupita Nyong'o, Charlize Theron, Kate Hudson, Julia Roberts, Pink and several others!
If we'd have to name Best Dressed Lady for the night, we'd have to go with Pink! Her gorgeous, bedazzling red gown looked simply stunning, and her performance just trumped everyone else for us. We did adore Cate Blanchett's "naked" dress - it was quite tasteful. And of course, everyones favourite, Lupita. But, for us, Pink really won our hearts! Her outfit and performance both were stunning!

When it came to the men on the Red. Carpet, well lets just say the women were in for a treat! Extremely dapper and stealing the show in their own right, the men knew what they were doing! All the men were dressed quire tastefully, what with their tuxedos and Will Smith doing justice to the ascot, but Pharrell was the one who tried something different with a "shorts Tuxedo". We're all for being trendy and different, but it just didn't win us over.
Bradley Cooper, Jason Sudeikis, Brad Pitt and Jared Leto all looked superb in their own respective styles. We had clean shaven men, groomed beards, comb overs and long-haired ombre! Who says women get to have all the attention!? This year, the men really set the bar high for what they consider to be fashion!
Well, The Oscars have made us "Clap along" because we "feel like a room without a roof", BECAUSE WE'RE HAPPY!

Until next time loves!
xoxo
