When the skort first emerged onto our high street, I was shot back in time when I was at school and used to wear them as part of my school uniform. And if I remember rightly they were a more favoured piece in my selection of school uniform garments.
It’s not a bodycon piece for those of us who panic at the thought of their lumps and bumps showing but it’s a neater fit that a skater skirt. It’s a winner all round. The cross over style ones us to cover bits that we don’t want to be highlighted, but the symmetrical styles cater for those of us that want to add volume to our hips. There’s a style for everyone.
The skort can be worn in a variety of ways to loads of different occasions. Us girls can now look feminine in the workplace, on a night out or just on an everyday occasion but have the reassurance that we’re not going to flash anyone if the wind decides to grace our day. With the amount of prints and colour there are available now, you can go as printed or as bright as you please depending on how daring you’re feeling that day.
The skort is also great news for festival goers that want to lounge about the field but don’t have a lot of freedom in a dress. The skort offers us the chance sit cross legged on the grass without fearing that our floral knickers are showing. The denim skort just oozes festival chic so pick up one now whilst stocks last. Pair it with a frilled crop top or your favourite band tee and you’re good to go.
The skort has opened a new door for us girls. We owe it to the skort to wear it as much as we can this summer and look fabulous whatever the occasion.
